Renewable Energy Development

Welcome to this sub-topic blog
..Renewable Energy Development
Scientist and industry experts may disagree over how long the world's supply of oil and natural gas will last, but it will end.
Therefore companies need to revise their business strategies under the light of the new paradigm of Sustainability, values and development of the coummunities.
Based on these, we will be discussing this sub-topic while considering the following questions:
  1. What are the main developments in renewable energy in recent years? what development still needs to occur in these areas?
  2. Who should be responsible for the development of renewable energy in your country or globally? what implications does this have?
  3. what tangible opportunities are there for individuals to get involved in the area of energy development?

It will be an interesting time seeing your positive contributions on these critical but yet expository topic.

Responsible Energy Consumption

Hi Guys,

My name is Jesse and I am so glad of the interesting postings that has been on this Blog.

I will want to introduce us to the Second Sub-topic in our Energy Learning Network which is so vital to our learning and of course the learning of others.

In our ever changing world, the energy consumption is set to double by 2050 where most of this growth is expected to originate from the developing world.

The question is where this energy is going to come from.

So guys, this important question will lead us to discussing these following questions:

1. .... What consequences do our communities face with increased energy consumption?

2. ....... What sectors of our community are going to drive the growth in energy consumption?

3......... in what manner of can energy consumption be made more efficient in your country?

4....... who should be responsible for the development of Responsible Energy technologies in today's world? What role o governments, companies and NGOs play in this?

Guys it will be great deliberating and diving deeper in to our thoughts and sharing these with others.

I look forward to seeing your responses here.

Jesse

Energy sector & the role of diverse stakeholders

The first subtopic we have in the Energy Initiative Group is about:

Energy sector & the role of diverse stakeholder groups in regards to this sector in the long-run (academy, government, corporate sector, NGOs)

In the 21st century the interdependence of various groups of society need to be leveraged in contributing to the long run needs of the energy sector and communities.

One online resource with some information:

In the News

(if you have links to relevant or interesting news articles then post them here)

This is an exert from the “Chicago Sun-Times” today 1-Aug-05… Which I thought was a positive step towards cleaner energy production… In the US!

“The bill provides $1.8 billion for research toward burning coal more cleanly, with the goal of reaching emission levels comparable with natural gas.”

Coolies,
Taco.

Welcome...

...to the Energy Initiative Group Blog,

My name is Taco Bosman and I’m currently a Director on AIESEC International and am working on the Energy Initiative Group team. Originally I’m from New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and the Netherlands and plan to return to South East Asia in years to come to pursue a career in Development Economics (where Energy plays an important role)…

This topic is a particularly interesting one considering it is likely to affect all of us over the next 40-50 years time. I’ve been reading so many interesting articles lately that lay out how dependant we are on energy and this is only going to grow in years to come… as well as the number of people demanding that energy…

So, naturally, there are many discussions about HOW we’re using our energy, WHERE we are getting it from given the challenge of increasing demand, what we are going to do about it.

At any rate, I’m really interested to hear your perspectives and reflections on the issue… and that’s what this blog is for…

Take care all,

Taco.
