Welcome...
...to the Energy Initiative Group Blog,
My name is Taco Bosman and I’m currently a Director on AIESEC International and am working on the Energy Initiative Group team. Originally I’m from New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and the Netherlands and plan to return to South East Asia in years to come to pursue a career in Development Economics (where Energy plays an important role)…
This topic is a particularly interesting one considering it is likely to affect all of us over the next 40-50 years time. I’ve been reading so many interesting articles lately that lay out how dependant we are on energy and this is only going to grow in years to come… as well as the number of people demanding that energy…
So, naturally, there are many discussions about HOW we’re using our energy, WHERE we are getting it from given the challenge of increasing demand, what we are going to do about it.
At any rate, I’m really interested to hear your perspectives and reflections on the issue… and that’s what this blog is for…
Take care all,
Taco.

Hi Taco,
It looks like I have the distinction of being the first person to leave a comment on your blogg. Yay for me :) (and to think I stumbled across it on google within a day of its going live!)
I only joined AIESEC this year, so I only met you once (NLTM at UTS), but its good to see you on this LN. Its something I'm working on to get underway down under at ANU.
I'm studying development economics here at APSEG: http://apseg.anu.edu.au/degrees/degrees.php and I want them to be a partner in this LN. We have many students from all around the world (especially AP) studying Environmental Management and Development, along with Development Economics and Policy and Governance. (I'm open to tips on how they might be engaged.)
We also have the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems here,
http://solar.anu.edu.au/
There is a lot of info there if people are interested to find out about this issue (I assume anyone reading, is!)
I'm looking forward to learning a great deal with all of you in this network.
Cheers,

Hi everyone,

Its always an interesting thing for us to be among the ONES that are setting the pace for a topic so such of great importance to the World in general. All friends and foes in regeards to ENERGY, (how its used, generated and distributed) cant just ignore and let it pass or wishing it away and treating it as such a less issue.
I will want to introduce to us some of the sub-topics we will be dicussing in this our interesting forum around ENERGY that we can positively connnect to and get the positive sides of our thought and contributios.
these are:-
**********************************
1. Energy sector & the role of diverse stakeholder groups in regards to this sector in the long-run ( acedemy, governments, corporate sector, NGOs.
.....in the 21st century the inter-dependence of various groups of the society need to be leveraged in contributing to the long run needs of the energy sector and communities
***********************************
2. Responsible energy consumption
...... the world energy consumption is set to double by 2050 where most of this is expected to originate from the developing world. the question is where this energy is going to come from.
***********************************
3. Renewable Energy development
......its hard to believe though, but the worlds supply of Oil and Natural gas will come to an end. therefore companies need to revise their their busness strategies under the light of new paradigm of sustainability.
***********************************
so guys with these flow we will explore our minds and expose our thoughts and ideas on these as it applies to our world Today.
so guys, in the next posting we will have some intro questions to our discussions.
dont go away, its just a click away this blog is for you, you and yes me.
Jesse

HI jesse Taco and others
I am Nikunj Parekh, VPOGX, AIESEC Kolkata, India, and am personally inerested in ENERGY as a entrepreneurship oppurtunity in the future after AIESEC.
I do forsee a lot of oppurtunity in the Renewable Energy sector, but am clueless on the recent developments, and technical knowledge required to do business in this sector, so i think that participating in this LN would help me contribute to the stratergies with regards to ENERGY, and then carve out my career path with regards to this
Hope to have some good discussions, and sharking of resources
Best Regards
